Conversion system
Common standard: Dual conversion Superhet.
Dynamic range
If quoted as a single figure, higher is better. If quoted as two figures, a
larger difference between the two is better.
IF
This is not a big issue for the buyer, standards are around 10.7MHz for a 1st IF
and 455KHz for the 2nd.
Selectivity
Look for at least 50dB at 10KHz (new UK sets should be at least 60dB at 10KHz).
Sensitivity
As long as the two sets being compared use the same measurement (SINAD or NQ)
and at the same level (20dB or 10dB), then: If the signal level is in -dB, higher
is better. If the signal is in microvolts (µV), lower is better.
